FFXIV: How to get shark mount (Ocean Fishing Guide)

Ocean Fishing is a fun, community-based Gathering Raid in Final Fantasy XIV based completely around Fishing. This guide is specifically intended to show you how to acquire the Hybodus shark mount, which requires you to earn at least 10,000 points during an Ocean Fishing voyage. These voyages happen every two hours – you can view upcoming voyages and their routes either in-game in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x3, y12) or on Lulu’s Tools.

Before you go on your trip, make note of which zone the trip is stopping on each of its 3 stops, as well as what time of day each of those stops will be. The basic idea here is that you will use one bait for the zone’s normal phase and a different bait, based on zone and time of day, for when/if the Spectral Phase (also referred to as “Rainbow”) triggers. Do your best to Cast and Hook as quickly as possible, as the more fish you catch, the more points you earn. Good luck!

Just a reminder – the Ocean Fishing voyage is very much RNG-based, so it’s possible you will have some bad luck with finding Spectral Fish, or great luck, while going for 10,000 points. Stick with it, follow the tips and you’ll be good to go!
