Knowing the optimal leveling process in Diablo 2 can save quite a bit of time, enabling the jump into end game play more quickly. There are tons of in-depth resources out there, so let’s keep this guide simple and straight forward, as a reference when you’re leveling a new character either in classic D2 or Diablo 2 Resurrected. Leveling Steps:
- 1 – 15: Grind Tristram (Act 1 Normal).
- 15 – 24: Grind Tal Tasha’s Tombs in Canyon of the Magi (Act 2 Normal).
- 24: Complete Ancients, Right of Passage (Act 5 Normal).
- 25 – 40: Grind Chaos Sanctuary (Act 4 Normal) and Baal (Act 5 Normal).
- 40: Complete Ancients, Right of Passage (Act 5 Nightmare).
- 41 – 60: Grind Chaos Sanctuary (Act 4 Nightmare) and Baal (Act 5 Nightmare).
- 60: Complete Ancients, Right of Passage (Act 5 Hell).
- 61 – 90: Grind Baal (Act 5 Hell).
Optional Quests:
While these quests are not required to complete, they are absolutely worth going back and completing once per difficulty for their rewards.
- Den of Evil: 1x skill point (Act 1).
- Tools of the Trade: 1x item imbuement (Act 1).
- Radament’s Lair: 1x skill point (Act 2).
- The Golden Bird: +20 HP (Act 3).
- Lam Esen’s Tome: 5x stat points (Act 3).
- The Fallen Angel: 2x skill points (Act 4).
- Hell’s Forge: gems and runes (Act 4).
- Siege on Harrogath: 1x item socket (Act 5).
- Prison of Ice: +10 All Resistances, unlocks Pindleskin (Act 5).
